Taking Turns in K

kidscanpress.com
Starting kindergarten can be overwhelming ... so many rules! To go over some of them, we read The Day My Mom Came to Kindergarten by Maureen Fergus and Mike Lowery. In the book, Mom doesn't do too well with meeting expectations: she shouts out answers, doesn't clean up after snack, and tries to cut in line! Very embarrassing, as the narrator tells her.

After reviewing what Mom could have done better, the students practiced taking turns.

First, they lined up to take their turn at the computer playing an animal sounds game. You can click here to play it at home.

Then they played a Dr. Seuss memory match game. I was so impressed by how patient both the AM and PM kids were while waiting for their turn. Great job, kindergartners!
